Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in 1967. 1996, she joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She became a Washington general reporter for NBC News two years later. 1981 was the year she began reporting on the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional correspondent. She was made as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell was host and panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. She was on the panel during 1988's presidential debates, that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. She has covered several notable reports over time, including fiscal reform, the budget, and the Iran Contra saga. She travelled extensively with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
